Living, Loving and Giving Like Jesus

Welcome to River Road United Methodist Church!

We’re thankful that you’re taking some time to check us out. By Virginia standards, we are considered a medium sized church with about 350 people attending our four worship services each weekend. Visitors and new members have told us that we have welcoming and friendly members. We have a lot to offer and we’re active in helping our community. We invite you to come visit us and learn more. It doesn’t matter what age you are or what background you have. Whether you are currently a member of a church or you are someone seeking to connect with a church. Whether you are happy with your life or struggling through a difficult time, come join us. Just bring yourself and we’ll help each other grow together.

Worship Services:
We have four different services available each weekend. On Saturday, our Renew  service (does not meet over the summer) is a community of people joining in a very contemporary style of worship.  This service is a casual and interactive one – a good way to explore questions of faith and to meet others.

On Sunday, we have three services – two are traditional (8:30 and 11:00) and one is contemporary (9:45).

The atmosphere at the Sunday contemporary service has a more casual feel and casual dress to it along with contemporary praise music. Sing out (it doesn’t matter if you’re on key or not) and clap your hands if you’d like.

The traditional services are more typical of what you probably remember if you went to church twenty years ago. Folks tend to dress up a little more. Hymns are sung and the order of worship is followed as outlined in a bulletin you can use to follow along.

Other Programs:

If you like what you see, then check out the rest of our website. There are links on the menu on your left to give you more information about programs for children and youth, small groups for adult study, ministries we have, and missions we participate in. We’re not just a Sunday operation.
Visiting:
We hope you decide to visit us in person. If you do, be sure to pick up a Visitor’s Packet while you’re here. There are greeters at most doors who can get you one and can help you get where you want to be. Also, say hello to one of our staff members. Any one of them can answer any questions you might have. Click here for their pictures.

Hope to see you soon!
