Joy Weaver – Director of Traditional Music and Worship

Since 2015, Joy has enthusiastically led the music ministry at RRUMC playing organ and piano for traditional worship, directing the choir, singing, coordinating musicians, and collaborating. She also enjoys playing keyboard and singing in the band at the 9a Contemporary Service. She loves the opportunity to serve through a variety of musical styles, believing that each can help people encounter God’s presence in meaningful ways.

Joy earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with a minor in the Music Industry from James Madison University. In addition to her work at RRUMC, she teaches music at Saint Gertrude Highschool and maintains a piano studio teaching private lessons to students of all ages, helping them develop both their musical skills and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Outside of church and teaching, Joy enjoys songwriting, exploring new avenues of music, playing for ballet dancers, hiking and other outdoor activities, spending time with family, and cooking.
