River Road UMC has a vibrant history dating back to 1859. Established initially as Broad Street Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in the heart of downtown Richmond at 10th and Broad, our original site, now the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, aligns with our enduring commitment to healing and service in the city. In 1961, a new chapter began when we moved to our current location and became River Road United Methodist Church. Today, we stand out for our rich heritage and our progressive spirit, bringing a dynamic and nurturing energy to our community. Embracing a hopeful present and a trusting future, we continue to serve as a beacon of worship and service, guided by God's love and a deep commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
