A Community that Perseveres

What does it take for a community to stay together when everything around them is uncertain, frightening, and changing? In the second message of "Called Together," Rhoda Howell turns to the disciples gathered in the upper room after Jesus's resurrection. They had lost their leader, watched one of their own betray him, and witnessed things no one could have prepared them for, yet instead of scattering, they stayed. They prayed. They persevered.

Through the unlikely story of Peter, who denied Jesus three times and still became the one who held the group together, Rhoda explores what perseverance actually looks like in the life of a church: not strength in the way the world defines it, but a willingness to keep standing, keep praying, and keep showing up, even when it is uncomfortable. As River Road enters its own season of transition, this sermon is an honest, encouraging call to write the next chapter together.
