What Are You Looking For?
It sounds like a simple question, until you actually have to answer it. In the second message of "The Questions God Asks Us," Pastor Bert Cloud turns to two curious disciples of John the Baptist who, upon hearing Jesus called "the Lamb of God," begin following him, only to be met with a question they clearly weren't prepared for: "What are you looking for?"
Drawing on a vulnerable and honest story from his own week, including a health scare and an unexpected moment of comfort in an MRI waiting room, Pastor Bert explores how hard it can be to name what we're really seeking, whether from God, from church, or from a new season of life together. The disciples' best answer was a deflection: "Where are you staying?" And Jesus, in his kindness, simply said, "Come and see."
This sermon is an invitation to sit honestly with our own unfinished searching, trusting that the one who asks the question is also the one leading us toward the answer.
